Ben & Jerry’s Celebrates Vermont Decision on Gay Marriage

At the beginning of the month Ben & Jerry’s renamed their legendary Chubby Hubby flavor in celebration of the state of Vermont’s decision to allow same sex couples the right to marry.

Chubby Hubby, which was named appropriately seeing as how if you eat enough of it you will indeed become a chubby hubby, is now being called Hubby Hubby. Fudge cover peanut butter filled pretzels in vanilla malt ice cream with fudge and peanut butter. In case you haven’t noticed this is a huge conspiracy to make gay men fat. :)

Ben & Jerry’s have been very well known in the political activist arena. They stand up and fight for equal civil rights, in this case one’s right to marry who he/she loves.

Apparently the flavor will only be renamed for the month of September, and it seems like you can only get it in Vermont. Ben & Jerry’s working with Freedom to Marry, an organization run by homosexuals and heterosexuals whose efforts are directed toward the basic right of marriage.

FROM THE PRESS RELEASE:

“At the core of Ben & Jerry’s values, we believe that social justice can and should be something that every human being is entitled to,” said Walt Freese, Chief Executive Officer of Ben & Jerry’s. “From the very beginning of our 30 year history, we have supported equal rights for all people. The legalization of marriage for gay and lesbian couples in Vermont is certainly a step in the right direction and something worth celebrating with peace, love and plenty of ice cream.”

Congratulations all you happy lovers out there, and congratulations to the state of Vermont for legalizing same sex marriage.

Thank you Ben & Jerry’s for fighting for what’s right in the world. And I hope you send some of that Hubby Hubby this way toward California. I would at least like to have the pint container to show to people heh.
